This weekend was the most relaxing one yet! I’m starting to get the feel of being a true Ghanaian with all of this relaxation and carefree spirit I’ve been experiencing. First off, we went to Nzulezo which is a village built on stilts in the water. We canoed for an hour to get to it and the ride was so peaceful! Once we got there we walked the ‘high street’ which was about 60 yards long and their entire village. 400 people lived in this small area along with 3 different churches, a school, and a community center. They somehow manage to have electricity and they drink the water that they live on. They also dispose all types of waste you can think of into this water (yes, bodily waste) ... pretty gross that they still drink it. The kids learn how to swim when they are 2 years old! We saw this one little girl who was 3 take a canoe from the dock and just start paddling away! When she gave our canoe back we made our way back to land and on to our next destination. We went to Axim Beach where we would be spending the rest of the weekend. The hotel was super nice and I actually felt clean for the first time in awhile. We spent all of Saturday on the beach and it was a perfect day for it! I could definitely see myself going back to Axim for another weekend stay!
Update on roommates----
I am the only remaining American! I’m surrounded by Scottish and English girls and one English guy. A total of 19 people in the house. There are 11 more people coming next weekend so I’m hoping for at least one fellow American to show up!
